Two bikers die in road accident near Padma Bridge toll plaza

Two motorcyclists were killed after a passenger bus hit them on the south side of the Padma Bridge on the Dhaka-Bhanga Expressway. The accident occurred at around 11:30 pm on Saturday (August 2) in the Padma Bridge South Police Station area of Jajira Upazila in Shariatpur. The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibchar Highway Police Station in Madaripur, Zahirul Islam, said that two youths were going from the capital Dhaka to Bhanga in Faridpur on a motorcycle. At that time, after crossing the Padma Bridge toll plaza, a passenger bus coming from behind hit their motorcycle. The motorcycle was twisted. Later, the two motorcycle riders fell into a ditch on the side of the road. Both died on the spot. On receiving information, the highway police went to the spot and recovered the bodies of the deceased. However, the driver fled the scene before the passenger bus could be identified.
