Bodies of two children recovered after fishing net thrown into pond in Noakhali
Two cousins drowned in a pond in Companiganj upazila of Noakhali. The incident took place at around 8:30 am on Sunday (July 27) at the house of Rabiul Lal in ward number 4 of Charparbati union of the upazila. The two deceased children are Md. Ibrahim (4), son of Md. Abu Sufian Sajib, and Nadim Hossain (3), son of Md. Sharif, of Rabiul Lal’s house adjacent to Chowdhuryhat Bazar in the same union. Police and locals said that the female members of the two families were busy with household chores in the morning. At one stage of the game, the two fell into a nearby pond unnoticed by everyone. At one stage, the family members started searching for them without seeing them. Later, when a net was thrown into the pond in search of the missing children, their bodies were found. They were immediately taken to the Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared them dead. Their deaths have cast a shadow of grief over the area including their families. Dr. Md. Shahadat Hossain Sagar, the on-duty doctor and cardiology consultant of Companiganj Upazila Health Complex, said that the relatives brought the two children to the hospital dead. According to them, the children died by drowning. When contacted, Companiganj Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Bimal Karmakar confirmed the truth of the incident and said that police have been sent to the spot. Further legal action will be taken after talking to the families of the deceased children.
