Iran releases new death toll from conflict with Israel
The Iranian government has released a new death toll from the conflict with Israel. Tehran said at least 1,060 people have been killed in the 12-day Iran-Israel conflict. The figure was given by Saeed Ohadi, head of Iran’s Martyrs and Veterans Foundation, in an interview broadcast on Iranian state television on Monday night. Ohadi warned that the toll could rise to 1,100, as some people were seriously injured in the conflict. During the 12-day Israeli bombardment during the conflict, Tehran’s defenses were destroyed, military installations were destroyed and nuclear facilities were damaged. Since the ceasefire took effect, Iran has been gradually reporting the extent of the damage. Although it has not yet said how much military equipment it has lost. Meanwhile, the Washington-based human rights group, which has repeatedly provided detailed casualty figures, said 1,190 people had been killed. Of these, 436 were civilians and 435 were members of the security forces. Another 4,475 were injured in the attack, the group said.
