Monitoring underway to stop rice price hike: Food Advisor
Food Advisor Ali Imam Majumder has said that the allegation that rice prices have increased ‘a lot’ during the monsoon season is not entirely correct. He said that the prices have increased slightly; and monitoring is underway to ensure that they do not increase further. He said this in response to questions from journalists after a seminar on food safety at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital on Monday (July 7). The Food Advisor said that food safety needs to be ensured to ensure citizen health. A loan agreement has been signed with the assistance of Japan. As a result, a modern safe laboratory will be built in Bangladesh, the main office of which will be in Dhaka. He also said that a state-of-the-art food testing system will be introduced in Khulna and Chittagong. This will further accelerate the process of ensuring food quality. It will basically work as the national reference laboratory of BFSA.
