Weak 4 banks received support of Tk 945 crore
Four weak banks received liquidity assistance of Tk 945 crore from relatively strong banks. The banks received this assistance against Bangladesh Bank’s guarantee.
On Wednesday afternoon, Bangladesh Bank Executive Director and Spokesperson Husne Ara Shikha confirmed the matter and said that First Security Islami Bank has received a loan of Tk 300 crore from City Bank, Dutch-Bangla Bank and Mutual Trust Bank. And Social Islami Bank has borrowed Tk 300 crore from City Bank and Mutual Trust Bank.
He said, National Bank has received liquidity support from Bengal Commerce Bank, Mutual Trust Bank and City Bank. However, the spokesman of the central bank did not say how much money was received.
Husne Ara Shikha said, Global Islami Bank has received liquidity support from Eastern Bank, Mutual Trust Bank and Dutch-Bangla Bank as per demand.
