Two killed in shooting at court premises in Khulna
Two people were shot dead by miscreants at the Khulna Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court premises. The incident took place at 12:15 pm today, Sunday (November 30). The deceased are Rajan Sheikh (28) and Hasib (29). Hasib is the son of Mannan Hawlader of Notunbazar area and Rajan Sheikh is the son of Ijaz Sheikh of Bagmara Dakshin Danga area of Rupsar.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulna Sadar Police Station Shafiqul Islam confirmed the matter. He said that senior police officials have come to inspect the scene. A drive is underway to arrest those involved in the attack. The entire matter will be informed in detail after the investigation.
According to eyewitness sources, the two accused, who were on bail, were standing in front of the court gate on their motorcycles after appearing in court to drink tea. At that time, four to five miscreants came forward and opened fire on them. When the two of them fell to the ground after being shot, the miscreants hit them with machetes and injured them. After that, they quickly fled the scene.
Later, two of the injured were rescued in critical condition and taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital. Among them, Hasib died on the spot. And Rajan died on the way to the hospital. Hasib’s brother Shakil Howlader said that a few days ago, a weapons case was filed against his brother. His brother came to the court to appear in that case.
