Sri Lankan national found hanging in Savar

The police have recovered the hanging body of a Sri Lankan national from a multi-storey building in Ashulia, Savar. His body was recovered from the third floor of the multi-storey building on Wednesday (October 29) afternoon. Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Hannan confirmed this information.
The deceased has been identified as Sanat Sujiba Perera Hapurachige (55). He was working as a cutting manager at a ready-made garment factory called Talisman BD Limited in the Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) in Savar.
Police said that Sanat’s friends and colleagues went to his flat in the afternoon after not receiving any calls on his phone. After knocking on the door, they became suspicious but there was no response. Later, when the police were informed, they went to the flat and found Sanat’s body hanging. At that time, he was wearing full pants and a check half shirt. He lived alone in that flat. His family lives in Sri Lanka.
Ashulia Police Station OC Abdul Hannan said, “Sanat Sujiba Perera is a resident of Hapurachige, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Her family has been informed after the body was recovered. The body has been sent to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in the capital for an autopsy.” Asked whether it was a murder or suicide, he said, “We will be able to give more details on this after receiving the autopsy report.” A case of unnatural death has been filed at Ashulia Police Station in this regard.
