Son dies 6 days after father’s death in Kabirhat
Saidur Rahman (20), the younger son of fertilizer trader Shafiqur Rahman, who was killed in a road accident in Kabirhat, Noakhali, has died 6 days after his son, Saidur Rahman, died. The death of the father and son in a span of a few days has cast a shadow of grief over the entire area.
Saidur Rahman died while undergoing treatment at the ICU of Bangladesh Medical University Hospital in Dhaka on Thursday (February 26) morning. Earlier, last Friday morning, an oil truck heading from Sonapur to Kabirhat lost control and hit a roadside shop while reaching the transmitter area. Shafiqur Rahman (60), a fertilizer trader, was killed on the spot. His two sons were seriously injured at the time.
It is learned that the deceased Saidur Rahman is a resident of Boro Ramdevpur village in Ward No. 5 of Sundalpur Union in Kabirhat Upazila of Noakhali. He was an honors student of Noakhali Government College and a Chhatra Dal activist.
Kabirhat Municipality BNP convener Mostafiz Rahman Manjujanan said that the two injured boys were first admitted to Maijdi Hospital after the accident. Later, when Saidur’s physical condition deteriorated, he was referred to Dhaka. After being under treatment in the ICU for six days, he died at around 7:30 am today. Kabirhat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Nizamul Uddin Bhuiyan said, “We learned about Saidur’s death at around 11 am. A case has been filed under the Road Transport Act in this incident. The truck driver has been sent to jail through the court and the lorry has been seized at the police station.”
