According to university sources, on the night of February 20, 2023, a group of students of the 2020-21 academic year of the university’s Business Administration Department mentally tortured a freshman student in Syed Mujtaba Ali Hall. As the allegations were proven true, these 16 students were expelled from the residential hall for life at the 227th syndicate meeting of the university on March 22 last year. However, after re-investigating the allegations, the authorities withdrew the punishment.
In this regard, the university’s proctor Md. Mokhlesur Rahman said that this review committee has been formed based on the students’ application. Based on the recommendations of the review committee, the syndicate withdrew the punishment of the students. There were inconsistencies in the previous investigation report. Therefore, it was not considered correct. The previous punishment was biased. Therefore, the review committee re-investigated and recommended.
