Muslim world condemns Israel for ceasefire violations

Several Muslim countries, including Pakistan, have strongly condemned Israel’s ceasefire violations. The leaders of the countries have called for the immediate withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said this in a statement.
The ceasefire agreement signed between Hamas and Israel on October 9 was part of US President Donald Trump’s efforts to stop the Israeli offensive in Gaza. The agreement also included the release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Israeli prisoners. Eight Arab and Muslim countries, including Pakistan, participated in this US peace initiative.
Although the ceasefire has been maintained for most of the time, there have been repeated threats of Israeli air strikes. A deadline for the disarmament of Hamas and the complete withdrawal of Israeli troops has not yet been set.
The situation in Gaza was discussed at a meeting of foreign ministers of Muslim countries in Istanbul, Turkey, yesterday. The foreign ministers of Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Jordan attended the meeting. They also met with President Trump in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly on September 23.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office said the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar discussed the steps needed to establish a permanent ceasefire and sustainable peace in Gaza. The countries participating in the meeting agreed that the future of Gaza should be in the hands of the Palestinians – not under any foreign influence or control.
