Mother was talking to her expatriate father, her child died after being electrocuted next to her
A mother was talking to her expatriate husband on a video call. At that moment, the most tragic incident of her life happened in front of her eyes. Her beloved only child, Belal Hossain (5), was accidentally electrocuted and paralyzed. This heartbreaking incident took place on Wednesday (April 8) at around 8:30 pm in Shahajipara area of Karamdi village in Gangni upazila of Meherpur.
It is learned that Belal’s mother Baby Khatun was talking to her expatriate husband Rakibul Shah on a video call. At that time, little Belal was playing at the table next to her mother. While playing next to a multiplug kept on the table, he suddenly inserted a nail into it. The child was electrocuted and instantly froze.
A while later, after finishing the conversation, the mother herself was electrocuted as she touched her son’s body. At that moment, Belal’s frozen body fell down from the table. Family members quickly rescued him and took him to Gangni Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared Belal dead.
Gangni Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Uttam Kumar Das confirmed the incident. Local social worker Enamul Haque said, “An innocent life was lost due to negligence. The incident was so sudden that no one can believe it.”
Meanwhile, Belal’s mother Baby Khatun is almost mad with grief after losing her only child. The entire area has been overwhelmed by her tears. Neighbors and relatives have also shed tears. OC Uttam Kumar Das said that permission has been given to bury the child within the family at the request of the family.
