Food aid handed over to Kuwait, emphasis on strengthening ties
Setting a unique example of diplomatic solidarity and brotherhood, the first consignment of food aid sent by Bangladesh to the people of Kuwait has been officially handed over. Around 240 tons of emergency food items are being sent from Bangladesh to Kuwait in multiple flights, which is being seen as a symbol of brotherly relations and humanitarian solidarity between the two countries.
Yesterday, Sunday (May 24), the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy and Advisor on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir and State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat handed over the food items sent as a goodwill gift from the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh to the country’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in Kuwait.
In the meeting, Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir invited the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to visit Bangladesh on behalf of the Honorable Prime Minister. At the same time, he formally handed over a message of greetings on behalf of the Prime Minister, wishing peace, security and well-being of the people of Kuwait and reiterating the commitment to further strengthen the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries.
State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat stressed the need to further strengthen the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Kuwait. In addition, discussions were held on expanding cooperation in the civil aviation, trade, investment and manpower sectors. The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister highly appreciated this humanitarian initiative of Bangladesh and said that it is a shining example of Bangladesh-Kuwait brotherly relations.
