Flood situation worsens in Feni, 98 villages flooded

Feni residents are facing floods again as the damage from last year’s floods has not dried up. This time, the people of Fulgazi-Parshuram are spending their time in extreme uncertainty due to the terrible floods. The flood situation has deteriorated on the ground on Thursday (July 10). The water of the Muhuri, Kahua and Silonia rivers has broken embankments in several more places. About a hundred villages have been flooded. As of the last news, the water level of the Muhuri river is still below the danger level. The water level of the Kahua and Silonia rivers has also decreased. However, water is entering the localities from the breached areas. In all, it has been reported that water is entering the localities through at least 21 breached embankments. This Jamuna TV reporter spoke to the flood-affected locals. They do not want to wait for relief or assistance anymore. Stating that a permanent solution is needed, the locals demand that the project worth 7,340 crore taka to combat the floods be implemented properly. Then they hope that there will be permanent relief from this curse. The Water Development Board said that even today, river water is flowing over the embankments in some places. So far, 67 villages in Fulgazi, 27 in Parshuram and 4 in Chagalnaiya have been flooded. Many shops and houses have been submerged in water. Traffic on the Feni-Parshuram road is still closed. Water is entering the Bangladesh side of the dam at Ballamukha after it broke. Feni Deputy Commissioner Saiful Islam said that 161 shelters have already been opened. Dry food is being sent to each shelter. Many people have been evacuated from the affected areas.
