Ferry services normal on Daulatdia-Paturiya

Ferry services on the Daulatdia waterway in Rajbari and Paturia waterway in Manikganj have returned to normal from 8 am today, Monday. Earlier, ferry services on this waterway were suspended due to dense fog.

It is learnt that the fog density increased as the night progressed on Sunday. Around midnight, the fog became so thick that the marking lights and lights on the waterway became dim. Due to this, the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) suspended ferry services to avoid boat accidents.

BIWTC Daulatdia Ghat Branch Manager Md. Salahuddin said that after a long closure, ferry services resumed around 8 am on Monday when the fog density decreased. The vehicles stuck at the wharf are being crossed in serial order.

He said that due to the suspension of ferry services on the waterway, the vehicles and passengers stuck at the wharf are suffering. However, as the situation has normalized, the vehicles are being crossed quickly.
