Drone strike kills 10 in Sudan market
A drone strike has killed 10 people in a busy market in South Darfur, Sudan. It is not clear who carried out the attack. The attack on the busy market came as fighting between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Force (RSF) intensified in various parts of Sudan.
The fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF began in April 2023. It has become a bloody and devastating civil war. Thousands of people have been killed in the war so far. 12 million people have been displaced from their homes. In addition, the country is facing famine.
The North Darfur Emergency Rooms Council, a human rights organization, said the drone strike took place on Saturday (December 20) in the Al-Hara market in the RSF-controlled town of Malhar. However, the organization did not say who carried out the attack. It said that numerous shops were set on fire and infrastructure was severely damaged after the drone strike.
