Brazil beat Haiti 3-0 with Kuna brace

Brazil are finally back in form. Mateus Kuna scored twice as they beat Haiti 3-0 in their second match at the 2026 World Cup. Vinicius Junior scored the other goal for the team. The defeat confirmed Haiti’s exit from the World Cup.
The five-time world champions will face a relatively weak opponent Haiti in a match held in Philadelphia on Saturday (June 20). Brazil, who faced criticism after drawing with Morocco in their first match, turned things around in this match in a great way. Carlo Ancelotti’s team rose to the top of Group ‘C’ with this impressive victory against Haiti.
Kuna, who came on as an 11th substitute for Brentford’s Igor Thiago, gave Brazil the lead in the 23rd minute. Haiti defender Hannes Delcroix tried to clear the ball but it went into the net. The goal, which was scored with a bit of luck, put Brazil ahead. However, the second goal was the result of Kuna’s individual skill. In the 36th minute, he entered the box from Vinicius Junior’s cross and scored with a great shot into the net.
Vinicius Junior increased the lead further in the first half’s extra time. The Real Madrid star calmly beat the goalkeeper after receiving the ball from a wonderful pass from former West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta. It was his second goal of the tournament. However, despite the victory, Rafinha’s injury has become a cause for concern. The Barcelona winger was forced to leave the field due to injury in the first half. He was replaced by Bournemouth’s Ryan.
Haiti created one goal chance in the second half, but Brazil goalkeeper Alisson saved his team from danger with a great save. Ricardo Ade tried to head the ball from a corner but could not succeed. Late in the match, a goal by teenage forward Andrik, who was making his World Cup debut, was ruled out for offside.
It is worth noting that in this match, the Seleção also fielded the oldest team since the 1962 World Cup. Their average age was 30 years and 190 days. In 1962, the average age was 30 years and 216 days. It was also the second time in history that Brazil used two players under the age of 20, Ryan and Andrik, in the same World Cup match. Previously, Pelé and Mayella had played against Wales in the 1958 World Cup.
