Body of young man recovered from Turag river
After being missing for three days, the body of a young man named Momin Khan Shakil has been recovered from the Turag river in the capital. The police recovered his body floating in the river on Tuesday (December 2) afternoon.
It is learnt that Shakil went missing on November 30 while returning home from the capital’s Diabari area. The deceased Shakil is the son of Azhar Ali, a resident of Porabari village in Jadunathpur union of Dhanbari upazila of Tangail. He is from a poor family and is the father of one child. He worked in a private institution in Dhaka.
The family alleged that he was abducted on his way home. Later, he was killed and his body was thrown into the Turag river for the purpose of disappearance. Dhanbari Police Station OC S.M. Shahidullah told us that the Turag police confirmed Shakil’s identity by checking his fingerprints and informed him about the matter over the phone at 9:30 pm. According to local sources, Shakil regularly participated in various political programs of the Awami League.
