Assistant dies after being hit by broken down truck in Dinajpur
Apan Chandra Das (26), a driver’s assistant, was killed on the spot when another speeding truck hit the back of a broken down truck in Ghoraghat, Dinajpur. Truck driver Bikash Chandra Das (30) was injured in the incident. The accident took place on the highway in front of the Ghoraghat filling station in the city at around 2:30 am on Sunday (March 29).
The deceased Apan Chandra Das is a resident of Dimla Keyapara village in Nilphamari upazila. The injured driver, Bikash Chandra Das, is said to be his brother-in-law.
According to local and police sources, a truck carrying sand broke down on the road on its way to Pabna last night and the driver and assistant started repairing it. At that time, a truck carrying gas cylinders heading towards Bogra suddenly hit the broken down truck on the road. As a result, the front of the moving truck was twisted and twisted. The assistant of the truck was trapped inside the cabin.
Later, local people informed the police and fire brigade, who reached the spot and recovered the body of the driver’s assistant from the twisted cabin of the truck, while the injured driver was admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. Ghoraghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam said that both trucks involved in the accident have been seized. Legal action is being taken in the incident.
