Accused son hacks father to death while praying

A drug addict son, Mustafa Pramanik, has been accused of hacking his father, Nizam Pramanik (60), to death while he was praying in Pabna. The incident took place at around 8:30 pm on Sunday (November 2) in Puran Bhadurdangi village of Chartarapur union of Sadar upazila.
The accused son has been arrested in this incident. However, three sub-inspectors (SIs) of Sadar police station were injured while arresting him. Pabna Sadar police station OC Abdus Salam confirmed this information. The deceased Nizam Pramanik is the son of the deceased Intaj Pramanik of the same village. He was engaged in farming. The accused son, Mustafa Pramanik, also worked in farming with his father. However, he was addicted to drugs.
According to police and family sources, the deceased Nizam Pramanik had returned home after selling milk in the new market in the evening. Then, after dinner, he stood up for Isha prayers. At that time, the son Mustafa, who was already in the house, closed the door. Then he repeatedly stabbed his father Nizam Pramanik with a sharp knife, which confirmed his death and left the house. The murderer Mustafa then went to the next room and sat blocking the door. Later, the people of the house came to know about the matter and informed the police. The police came and recovered the body of Nizam Pramanik and arrested the murderer, his son Mustafa. Meanwhile, while arresting the accused son Mustafa, Sadar Police Station SI Abu Bakar Siddique, SI Ziaur Rahman and SI Abu Raihan were injured in stabbing Mustafa. Pabna Sadar Police Station OC Abdus Salam told us that the body was recovered and sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy and the accused was arrested. Three SIs were injured in the incident.
