2 arrested for attack on youth in Chapainawabganj
Police have arrested two people on charges of seriously injuring a youth named Abu Sufian Siju in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj. They were arrested yesterday, Saturday (December 27). The arrested are Shah Alam and Abdur Razzak. Locals said that miscreants attacked Siju at Umarpur Ghat in the upazila on Wednesday (December 24) evening. He is currently undergoing treatment at Pangu Hospital in the capital.
The victim’s mother Sufia Begum has alleged that a man named Mostaq had a love affair with his nephew’s minor daughter and took her to Dhaka. The girl’s father filed a case in this incident and the police arrested them. Later, Mostaq came out on bail and started harassing his nephew’s daughter again. Siju scolded and scolded Mostaq in this incident. As a result, Jamaat’s Abdur Razzak Huzur and some others attacked Siju on Wednesday evening. At one point, he was tied up. Later, Shibir cadres were called and Siju was beaten and stabbed.
The victim’s mother also alleged that a blood vessel in Siju’s left hand was cut. Now his hand will have to be amputated. Although Siju was a troublemaker earlier, he was not involved in any bad activities for the last one and a half years. He was involved in BNP politics.
However, Shibganj Upazila Jamaat has issued a press release denying Jamaat’s involvement with the attackers. Upazila Jamaat Amir Sadiqul Islam said, Siju is known as a terrorist in the area. Those named in this incident are not workers of our associate organization. However, they may be our supporters.
In this regard, Chapainawabganj Additional Superintendent of Police ANM Wasim Firoz told us that the father of the injured person has filed a case in this incident. Two people named Shah Alam and Abdur Razzak have been arrested in the case. A drive is underway to arrest the others involved.
