Two housewives beaten to death by husbands in Tarashe
Two housewives were allegedly beaten to death by their husbands within a 12-hour span in Tarashe, Sirajganj. On Monday (August 3) morning, a housewife named Mosha Salma Khatun (35) was beaten to death by her husband because her khichuri was not cooked properly.
On the other hand, a husband has been accused of killing a newlywed named Mosha Meem Khatun (16) over dowry demand. Salma Khatun is the wife of Md. Abdul Jalil of Khuknipara village in Nadosaidpur village of Magurbinod union of the same upazila, and Mosha Meem Khatun is the wife of Md. Hashem Ali of Harisona village in Talam union.
According to eyewitness sources, Salma Khatun cooked khichuri this morning. But as she did not like the taste of the khichuri, her husband Abdul Jalil got into an argument with his wife and beat her up. Later, Salma was found hanging from the wall of the house and died on the way to the hospital.
On the other hand, Meem was married to Hashem Ali 5 months ago. Since their marriage, husband Hashem Ali had been torturing his wife mentally and physically for dowry. Last Sunday, around 12 am, a fight broke out between husband Hashem Ali and wife Meem Khatun. Late at night, Hashem Ali told everyone that Meem had committed suicide by hanging herself.
The deceased Meem’s father Md. Firoz Ahmed alleged that his son-in-law had killed his daughter for dowry. Later, he started spreading the news that Meem had committed suicide by hanging herself.
Tarash Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Habibur Rahman said that both the families of the two housewives claimed that an attempt was made to kill their daughter and make it look like suicide. Therefore, their bodies have been recovered and sent to the morgue to find out the real cause of death. The real cause of death will be known only after receiving the autopsy report.
