Tourist plane crashes in Peru, 13 dead

A small plane carrying tourists on a trip to the Nazca Lines has crashed in the Peruvian desert. A total of 13 people, including 11 passengers and two pilots, have been killed. It is reported that the foreign tourists set off on a trip to the Nazca Lines, a UNESCO World Heritage site, on Saturday local time. But after taking off from Pisco airport, the Cessna Caravan C-208 model plane crashed in the Pueblo Viejo area. It later caught fire. However, the cause of the accident is not yet known. Police said, citing the news agency AFP, that the accident was very terrible. No one could be rescued alive. Four bodies have been recovered so far.
A video published by Reuters showed smoke rising from the debris at the scene and firefighters putting out the fire. Meanwhile, the Nazca provincial municipal authorities expressed deep sorrow over the accident in a statement and expressed their sincere condolences to the families of the victims.
Incidentally, the Nazca Lines, located in the southern Peruvian desert, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular tourist destination. Although these designs of giant animals painted in the desert sand are not well visible from the ground, they can be clearly seen from the sky. It is worth noting that this is not the first plane crash in the Nazca Lines area. In 2022, a small tourist plane crashed in the same area, killing 7 people. Previously, 6 people were killed in another tourist plane crash in 2010.
