US will return to negotiating table if fuel prices rise: Baghei

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghei said the US will return to negotiating table if fuel prices rise in the global market. According to a report published by Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera on Monday (July 27), Baghei claimed while talking to reporters in Tehran that after the US-Israeli war broke out, Washington thought that Iran would collapse and surrender in just three days.
He said, “Now, after several months, America is still stuck in this situation and they are proud of their crimes.” The Iranian official also said that the US will return to negotiating table if prices rise in the international energy market. Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has seized six ships for attempting to “illegally” pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB quoted a source as saying that the ships were attempting to “illegally and unsafely” pass through a passage in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz. The source claimed that the ships’ actions were intended to “provoke” US forces stationed in the area.
The report said that an unspecified incident occurred around one of the six ships. The other five were diverted to the Persian Gulf, which is under Iranian control. However, the names of the ships, the flags they were flying, the identities of their sailors or any other details of the incident were not disclosed.
The Iranian source also said that the waterway designated for navigation through the Strait of Hormuz is clearly marked. It also warned that using any other route would be dangerous and unnavigable. Meanwhile, the US military did not immediately comment on Iran’s claim.
