Salute to brave martyrs and freedom fighters: State Minister Ishraq

Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed paid tribute to the brave martyrs of the great Liberation War by laying a wreath at the National Memorial in Savar. State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraq Hossain, Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman, newly appointed Navy Chief Vice Admiral Khandaker Misbah-ul-Azim and Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan were present at the time.
However, while paying tribute, State Minister Ishraq Hossain also saluted the brave martyrs along with the service chiefs. However, criticism started on social media Facebook regarding this. Later, in a post on his verified Facebook page last Friday night (July 24), he said, “Whenever the names of the brave freedom fighters are mentioned, my hands spontaneously salute in respect.” I salute the brave martyrs and brave freedom fighters with my hand.
State Minister Ishraq wrote, My father was the commander of a guerrilla freedom fighter unit. As the State Minister of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, I represented the people. The mentality of making jokes or jokes about this issue is unusual.
He also wrote, Whenever the topic of brave freedom fighters comes up, my hand automatically goes up to salute out of respect. I have saluted the brave martyrs and brave freedom fighters with my hand. I have respected all the respected heroes with my hand. My country is democratic; I have saluted of my own free will. Whenever I want, whenever I want, I will salute the brave freedom fighters.
Urging not to criticize this issue, the State Minister wrote, It is truly unfortunate that some people in our country are so insensitive. If you disrespect, you get applause, and if you respect, you get ridiculed. At the end of the post, he wrote, “May Allah guide everyone to the right path.”
