Reuters: Israel’s concerns over US-Saudi nuclear deal have increased

International media outlet Reuters claimed in a report that Israel’s concerns have increased as a result of the nuclear agreement signed between the United States and Saudi Arabia. The media outlet reported this information in a report today, Thursday (July 23).
The report said that the nuclear agreement signed between the United States and Saudi Arabia allows Saudi Arabia to build nuclear reactors and enrich uranium using US technology. Israel believes that this has increased the risk of starting an arms race in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-US agreement announced yesterday on Wednesday still needs congressional approval. It is initially believed that the purpose of this agreement is to allow the United States to develop a civilian nuclear program in Saudi Arabia.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his defense and foreign ministers have not commented on the agreement so far. According to critics, this agreement will undermine Israel’s long-term security interests. Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said the nuclear deal with Saudi Arabia bypassing Israel is a grave strategic failure that endangers our security.
Former Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Saudi Arabia’s civilian nuclear program would lead to nuclear weapons and spark a frenzied arms race across the Middle East. He added that Israel, widely believed to have the only nuclear weapons stockpile in the region, must oppose the deal and lobby Congress to block it.
