15 injured as bus falls into ditch in Meherpur
At least 15 passengers were injured when a local bus carrying passengers lost control and fell into a ditch on the side of the road in front of the 250-bed General Hospital in Meherpur. The accident occurred at around 12:30 pm today, Tuesday (July 21).
With the help of the fire brigade and civil defense, locals rescued the injured and admitted them to the 250-bed General Hospital in Meherpur. The identities of the injured were not immediately known. Eyewitnesses said that when the passenger bus (Kushtia-J 08-009) from Meherpur reached in front of the hospital, the driver lost control while giving way to a truck coming from the opposite direction.
At that time, the bus fell into a ditch on the side of the road. After the accident, locals quickly rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and sent them to the hospital. After receiving the news of the accident, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control and started the work of recovering the bus. Initially, it is believed that the accident may have occurred due to excessive speed or mechanical failure.
