Massive fire breaks out at garbage dump in Tamil Nadu
A massive fire broke out at a garbage dump in Tamil Nadu, India. A fire broke out at a garbage dump in Karur city at around 8 pm local time on Wednesday (July 15).
Within moments, the fire spread to a huge pile of garbage. Intense heat and thick black smoke enveloped the entire area. The garbage continued to burn and a foul smell spread. The fire burned for more than five hours. Residents of the area spent the night in extreme distress. Various units of the fire brigade worked to douse the fire.
The garbage dump is owned by the Karur City Municipal Corporation. Authorities said that a proper investigation will be conducted to find out the cause of the fire.
