Ashrafi Silsila Plays a Vital Role of Islam: Sufi Muhammad Mizanur Rahman
The annual Urs-e-Makhdoomi commemorating Hazrat Syed Ashraf Jahangir Simnani (RA), one of the most eminent preachers of Islam in the Indian subcontinent, was held on Tuesday night at the auditorium of Mizanus Salam Research Institute in Nasirabad Housing Society, Chattogram.
The program was attended as the Chief Guest by Alhaj Sufi Muhammad Mizanur Rahman, Chairman of PHP Family, noted industrialist, and recipient of the prestigious Ekushey Padak for his contributions to social service. The event was presided over by Maulana Qazi Moinuddin Ashrafi, President of Anjuman-e-Ashrafia Charitable Trust, Chattogram District.
Addressing the gathering, Sufi Muhammad Mizanur Rahman said that the sacred Urs-e-Makhdoomi is observed by followers across the Muslim world. In Bangladesh, devotees of the Ashrafi Silsila commemorate the occasion with great reverence while adhering strictly to the principles of Shariah. He noted that the uninterrupted tradition spanning more than 640 years reflects the lofty status and dignity of the Ahl al-Bayt (the family of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him). He further stated that, like other authentic Sufi orders, the Ashrafi Silsila continues to play a significant role in the propagation and promotion of Islam. Through Anjuman-e-Ashrafia Charitable Trust, the organization has been working to uphold the teachings of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah and to carry out a wide range of humanitarian and welfare activities in Bangladesh.
Among the speakers, Ali Hossain Sohag, Chairman of Anjuman-e-Ashrafia Charitable Trust and Director of PHP Family, stated that the Trust’s activities extend far beyond organizing Urs and religious gatherings. He said the organization is actively engaged in humanitarian initiatives, providing assistance to people affected by natural disasters and emergencies. Most recently, the Trust distributed food, medicines, and financial assistance to flood-affected families in South Chattogram. It has also undertaken employment-generation initiatives to improve the economic condition of underprivileged communities and regularly organizes winter clothing distribution and other welfare programs in response to public needs.
The event was attended by Maulana Jamiul Akter Ashrafi, Maulana Shafiul Haque Ashrafi, Rafiq Ashrafi, Munir Ashrafi, and numerous devotees and disciples of the Ashrafi Silsila.
