Government has started the work of preparing a list of real martyrs of the Liberation War: Prime Minister
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said that the government has started the work of preparing a list of real martyrs of the Liberation War. He said that the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has already taken various initiatives. As a result, it will be possible to pay due respect to them by preparing an accurate and acceptable list.
He said these things during the Question and Answer Session in the National Parliament on Wednesday (July 15) afternoon. The Prime Minister said that countless people were victims of genocide in the great Liberation War. However, it is a pity that those who were responsible for preparing an impartial, accurate and complete list of martyrs of the Liberation War after independence did not fulfill that responsibility properly.
He also said that political influence was added to the process of preparing the list of martyrs. However, it was in exchange for the sacrifices of these martyrs that Bangladesh achieved its desired independence. The Prime Minister said that considering the importance of the matter, the current government has promised to prepare an accurate and complete list of martyrs of the Liberation War in its election manifesto based on intensive research.
In response to another question, the Prime Minister said that the government has taken initiatives to increase the capacity of the Chittagong Seaport. Initiatives have been taken to implement the Bay Terminal; once it is operational, mother vessels will be able to dock at the Chittagong Port. This will speed up import and export.
She also said that if there is corruption in any work of the Chittagong Port, an investigation will definitely be conducted and a trial will be held. Wasting of state resources will be prevented and a corruption-free environment will be ensured. The Head of Government said that in the future, the Prime Minister’s Gold Cup Tournament will be launched. In this, primary school students as well as secondary school students will participate.
