Murder of 1,400 martyrs killed in July Uprising to be tried: Chief Prosecutor

Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal Aminul Islam said that all 1,400 martyrs killed in the July Uprising will be identified and their killers will be brought to justice. He made these comments after visiting the mass grave of those killed in the July Uprising at the Rayerbazar Intellectuals’ Cemetery in the capital on Wednesday (July 15) morning.
The Chief Prosecutor said that information has been received that some bodies were thrown into the river from a hospital during the July Movement and an investigation is underway in this regard. At the same time, those involved in this incident will also be brought to justice.
He also said that the investigating agency has found mass graves of those killed in the July Movement in Matuail, Jurain, Narayanganj and Munshiganj in Dhaka. At that time, Aminul Islam claimed that the actual number of deaths could be higher than the death toll announced by the United Nations. The tribunal’s investigative agency is investigating the matter to uncover the truth.
