Youth arrested for raping 5-year-old child in Nandail
Police have arrested a youth named Mustafa (37) on charges of raping a 5-year-old child in Nandail Municipality, Mymensingh. On Sunday (July 12), Nandail Police Station conducted a raid and arrested him at around 11:45 pm. Accused Mustafa is the son of Abdur Rashid, a resident of Nandail Municipality.
According to police and local sources, the incident took place in the area on Sunday afternoon. The victim’s family alleged that at the time of the incident, the child’s mother left him at home and went to work at a nearby house for a while. Taking this opportunity, Mustafa found the child alone and lured him to a secluded place on the bank of the river near the house and raped her there.
Later, the child’s mother returned home and started searching for her daughter. At one point, she saw the child coming towards the house in a seriously injured and bloody condition. When the mother asked, the child broke down in tears and told about Mustafa’s cruelty. Although the matter was initially kept secret for fear of public embarrassment, the child’s physical condition deteriorated severely in the evening. Due to continuous bleeding, he was rushed to the emergency department of the Nandail Upazila Health Complex.
The duty doctor of the Upazila Health Complex, Dr. Akramullah, said that the child had been subjected to severe sexual abuse. As the bleeding did not stop even after initial treatment and his condition deteriorated, he was urgently transferred to the Mymensingh Medical College (MMC) Hospital for advanced treatment.
Nandail Police Station SI Samraj Mia confirmed the incident and said that the police took action on receiving the information and were able to arrest the accused Mustafa. Legal proceedings are ongoing in the case.
