US calls on Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz

The United States has called on Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz. Several US media outlets have confirmed that US officials made the call at a press conference on Friday (July 10). The British media outlet BBC reported this information in a report on Saturday (July 11).
According to the report, US officials said at a press conference yesterday that a message had been sent to Tehran’s leadership through regional mediators. It demanded that it issue a statement declaring the Strait of Hormuz open and stop firing on commercial ships.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said that despite the fight over the Strait of Hormuz, the White House sees the talks between the two sides as a violation of the ceasefire. Senior US officials told the BBC’s US partner CBS News that Tehran claimed that a “deviant” group of hardliners was trying to sabotage the talks by firing on commercial ships.
