Jubo League leader dies within 12 hours of being taken to jail

The death of banned Jubo League leader Nurul Alam has been reported within 12 hours of being taken to Chittagong jail. The prison authorities said that he died in the Chittagong Central Jail on Wednesday (June 24) morning. Meanwhile, the family of the deceased Nurul Alam has alleged that land grabbers from Keranihat area of ​​Satkania upazila had planned to kill him after taking a huge amount of money.
Nurul Alam was a resident of Dhemsha Union in Satkania. He was the joint convener of Dhemsha Union Jubo League. The deceased’s elder sister Bakul Akhter told us that Nurul Alam had a house next to Keranihat City Center. A gang of robbers was formed to occupy the place. This gang included Arif, Rafiq Haji and Sohan Haji. They were harassing Nurul Alam and his family in various ways.
On Tuesday afternoon, a team of District DB police arrested him from the gate area of ​​the police station while he was on his way to the office of the Satkania Upazila Assistant Commissioner (AC Land) for the hearing of a land-related case. Later, he was handed over to the police station. Then, he was arrested and sent to court in a case filed by the Liberal Democratic Party in 2024. According to the family, he was taken to jail at around 7 pm on Tuesday and died at around 7 am on Wednesday. Nurul Alam died within 12 hours of being taken to jail. Satkania Police Station OC Jahangir Alam said that a team of Chittagong Detective Branch police arrested him and handed him over to the police station. A few hours after he was brought to the police station, we completed the legal process and sent him to the court. He is a polite man, he went to the court with a smile. There is no question of torture at the police station.
