Qatar rocked by massive explosion, many feared dead

A sudden explosion was heard in the Middle Eastern country of Qatar. Many thought it was an earthquake or another attack. The explosion occurred due to a technical fault inside Qatar’s large gas field, Ras Laffan. More than 50 people are feared to have been killed.
According to Gulf News and Xinhua, the explosion shook doors and windows of houses in various places, including the capital Doha, at around 10:30 pm local time on Sunday (June 21).
However, Qatar’s Interior Ministry said in a statement that 54 people have been injured in the accident so far. On the other hand, 18 people are missing. Qatar’s special forces are conducting intensive operations to rescue the injured and search for the missing.
However, no gas or dangerous substances were spread outside the accident site. Shortly after the incident, Qatari police said that several people were injured in the explosion.
