3 people die while bathing in DND Lake in Narayanganj
Three people died while bathing in DND Lake in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj. The accident occurred in the Dakshin Kadamtali Kashempara area in front of Navana City adjacent to Godnail Barma Stand in Siddhirganj on Saturday afternoon (June 13).
The deceased were Rasheduzzaman, his brother-in-law Galib and sister-in-law Sureiya. They lived in a rented house in Dakshin Kadamtali Kashempara. Locals said that the three went to bathe in DND Lake in the afternoon. At one point, they drowned. After not finding any trace of them for a long time, the locals informed the fire brigade and the police.
Upon receiving the information, the diving team of the Narayanganj River Fire Station reached the spot and started a rescue operation. The bodies of Rasheduzzaman and Galib were first recovered in the operation. Later, Sureiya’s body was recovered. Rasheduzzaman’s village is in Monag area of Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj district. On the other hand, Ghalib and Suriya’s home is in Raghunathpur village of Kalia upazila of Narail district. In this regard, Siddhirganj Police Station Police Inspector (Investigation) Mizanur Rahman said, according to family members, all three knew how to swim. However, it could not be immediately confirmed why they drowned together. The matter is under investigation. The fire service’s diving team, police and local volunteers jointly conducted a drive and recovered the bodies of the three.
