PM’s Defense Advisor visits naval installations in Chittagong

Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. A. K. M. Shamsul Islam visited various important research, industrial and military installations of the Bangladesh Navy in Chittagong. Today, Thursday (June 11), he was informed in detail about the activities of the IFF Center, Center for Naval Research and Development (CNRD) and Chittagong Dry Dock Limited (CDDL) of the Bangladesh Naval Base located in Banoja Isa Khan and exchanged views with the concerned officials.
The ISPR said in a press release that the IFF Center collects, analyzes and stores the movements of all ships in the country’s maritime area through state-of-the-art technology, which plays an important role in maritime security and surveillance activities. On the other hand, CNRD is a research and innovation-oriented organization of the Bangladesh Navy, where research and production activities are conducted on fuel purification technology, drone development and modern communication systems.
As part of the visit, the Defense Advisor also inspected the activities of Chittagong Dry Dock Limited. The company is making a significant contribution to the country’s maritime industry by conducting repair, maintenance and construction activities of various civilian ships including warships of the Bangladesh Navy.
At this time, he emphasized on increasing the capacity and effectiveness of Chittagong Dry Dock Limited. He further mentioned that the importance of Chittagong Dry Dock Limited in the context of the Prime Minister’s ‘Made in Bangladesh’ policy in the defense industry is immense and he highly appreciated the professional and technical skills of the company.
He visited Karnaphuli Shipbuilders Limited and Western Marine Limited. During this time, he was informed about the current capacity, ongoing projects and future development plans of the companies. After the visit, the Defense Advisor praised the progress of the activities, technical capabilities and skilled manpower of the concerned companies. He called upon everyone to work with dedication and sincerity for the sustainable development of the country’s maritime security, shipbuilding industry and defense sector.
