Five people were burnt in a gas cylinder explosion in Narayanganj

A total of five people, including four members of the same family, were burnt in a gas cylinder explosion in Madanpur area of ​​Bandar upazila of Narayanganj. The accident occurred in the Chanpur area of ​​the upazila early on Thursday (June 11). Initial investigation revealed that gas had accumulated inside the house due to a leak in the cylinder connection pipe. In the morning, when the family members lit a fire or match, a terrible explosion occurred and the fire spread. A total of five people, including four members of the same family, were burnt.
Local shopkeeper Anik said that after the explosion, the burnt people came out of the house screaming. Later, with the help of locals, they were sent to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in an ambulance. The terrible explosion occurred due to gas accumulation in a closed room. Upon receiving the information about the incident, members of the fire brigade reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The fire brigade is working to investigate the specific cause of the explosion.
Dr. Shaon Bin Rahman said that among the burnt victims, Sultana Begum suffered 90 percent burns, Sayem 77 percent, Mim 41 percent, Abdul Mannan 30 percent and Ali 8 percent burns. In addition, the respiratory system of some of them was damaged. In this regard, Narayanganj Fire and Civil Defense Zone-2 Deputy Assistant Director Md. Osman Gani said that Abdul Mannan and his family lived as tenants in a two-room flat in Akhtar Hossain’s one-story house in Chanpur area. Although they used pipeline gas, they kept LPG gas cylinders in the house as an alternative.
