1 killed in clash over drug dispute in Chapainawabganj

One person was killed and at least ten people were injured in a clash between two parties over a village settlement organized in Shahjahanpur Union of Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila. The incident took place in Durlavpur area of ​​the upazila on Wednesday (June 10) afternoon.
The deceased Ibrahim (35) is a resident of Ward No. 9 of Durlavpur Union. According to local sources, the dispute between the two parties had been going on for several days over the incident of drug smugglers in the area being handed over to the BGB. A village settlement was organized on Wednesday to resolve the dispute.
During the settlement, an argument broke out between the two parties, which later turned into a clash. Ibrahim was seriously injured after being hit by a spear. Later, locals rescued him and took him to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. In addition, at least ten people from both sides were injured in the clash. Some of them have been admitted to various medical centers including Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital.
Later, upon receiving information, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The body of the deceased has been recovered and sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy. Chapainawabganj Additional Superintendent of Police ANM Wasim Firoz said, “An investigation is underway to uncover the real cause of the incident and identify those involved. Further legal action will be taken based on the complaint.”
