13-month-old baby dies after drowning in Naogaon
A 13-month-old baby named Tanjim Araf died after falling into a pond in Patnitala, Naogaon. The incident took place today (June 8) at around 12:30 pm in Singhandi village of the upazila. The deceased Tanjim Araf is the son of Mahmudul Hasan, a resident of Singhandi village.
According to local and family sources of the deceased, the child’s grandmother was sitting on the bank of a pond near their house around 12:00 pm today. At one point, the grandmother fell asleep and the child fell into the pond unknowingly. Later, the grandmother could not see the child and called her mother for help. Then the family members searched and found the child floating in the pond.
The child was immediately rescued and taken to the Patnitala Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor Dr. Sayema Akhter declared him dead. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patnitala Police Station Md. Niyamul Haque confirmed the incident and said that police have been sent to the spot. The body will be handed over to the family members after the legal process is completed.
