Ramisa’s mother heard the screams, but didn’t realize it was her daughter
Recently, while describing the murder of 7-year-old Ramisa in the capital’s Pallavi, her mother Parveen Akhter said, “I heard a scream, but I didn’t realize it was her (Ramisa).” Parveen Akhter added, “I was preparing to send Ramisa to school. I was telling her to brush her teeth, wash her face and wear her school uniform. Then she went to the next room to brush her teeth.”
Parveen Akhter told us this on Thursday (May 21). She said that Ramisa’s elder sister was going to her uncle’s house at that time. When Ramisa also wanted to follow her, her elder sister asked her to stay at home. At that time, Ramisa was inside the door. Later, she was dragged away as soon as the door opened.
Parveen Akhter further said, “After the incident, there was one shoe, but the other was not there. Then I saw her elder sister coming alone from her uncle’s house. Then I suspected that I also heard a scream.” But I did not understand, the scream was Ramisha’s. I thought it was the scream of another child from the next flat. She said that after becoming suspicious, the door was knocked repeatedly, but no one opened the door. Meanwhile, Parveen Akhter further said that they have never met or spoken to the accused. It is worth noting that last Tuesday (May 19), the police recovered the body of child Ramisha with her throat slit from a house in Pallavi. In this incident, a murder charge was filed against Sohel Rana, the tenant of the next flat. Later that same evening, the police arrested him from Fatulla area of Narayanganj. After the arrest, Sohel Rana gave a confessional statement in the court. At the same time, his wife Swapna Akhter was also arrested.
