2 police academies to be built in Jangal Selimpur, Chittagong

The government has taken the initiative to build 2 police academies in Jangal Selimpur, Chittagong. After establishing control over this area, which was once known as a sanctuary for terrorists, various development plans are being taken after establishing control through a joint force operation. The concerned authorities have also announced the construction of various government facilities including a prison there.
A few days ago, Jangal Selimpur was a sanctuary for terrorists. Since the administration and law enforcement forces could not enter, this area was called another country within the country. The situation changed after the area was liberated in an operation by about 4,000 members of the joint force last March. This time, 2 police academies are being built in this area of about 3,100 acres. Chittagong Police Superintendent Masud Alam said that during the Police Week, the Home Minister announced a special plan for Jangal Selimpur and initiatives have been taken to build two police academies there.
Meanwhile, the new Police Superintendent expressed concern about the crime situation in various areas of the district, including Raozan. He said that since August 5, 2024, the number of murders, use of illegal weapons, extortion and kidnappings has increased in Raozan. Preparations are underway to conduct a major operation in coordination with the army, RAB and intelligence agencies to control these crimes. Regarding extortion and robbery at the permanent and temporary cattle markets in Chittagong, he said, “We will be extremely vigilant to ensure that no robbery or snatching takes place at any place on the cattle route and, if necessary, we will bring additional police from our police lines.”
