2 members of a bandit gang arrested in Sundarbans, 4 hostages rescued

In the sixth operation of the special operation ‘Operation Mangrove Shield’ in Sundarbans, the Coast Guard has arrested 2 bandits including the second-in-command of the Karim Sharif Force and rescued 4 fishermen hostages. This information was given by Lieutenant Ashiqul Islam Emon, Executive Officer of BCGS Taufiq of Mongla Coast Guard Base, Bagerhat, on Sunday (May 17) afternoon.
He said that during the operation, the bandit gang tried to escape after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard. Later, two of them were arrested after a chase. During the operation, 1 foreign single-barreled gun, 2 domestic single-barreled guns and 24 rounds of live cartridges were recovered from the detainees. In addition, 4 fishermen held as hostages have been rescued. The Coast Guard said that the rescued fishermen will be handed over to their families soon.
