Three UPDF members arrested with weapons in Khagrachari
Three people were arrested with weapons in a joint operation in Ramgarh, Khagrachari. Police said that all the three arrested are members of UPDF. The incident took place on Saturday (May 16) afternoon. One person was shot during the operation. The arrested are Sathoai Marma (35), Ronel Chakma (28) and Searching Marma alias Raju (19). Among them, Sathoai Marma was shot and injured.
Police said that Ronel Chakma is the collector of UPDF and the other two are members of the organization. Police said that yesterday at around 12 noon, the army and Ramgarh police conducted a joint operation in Budangchhara area of Patchhara union of Ramgarh based on secret information.
At that time, the terrorists opened fire on the law enforcement agencies. The terrorists fled when they returned fire. Later, a search was conducted in the area and Satwai Marma was found with bullet injuries and Collector Ronel Chakma and Raju Marma were arrested.
An AK-22 rifle, 6 rounds of live ammunition, a magazine and other equipment were recovered from them. Police said that the injured Satwai Marma was first sent to Ramgarh Upazila Health Complex and later to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
