Child dies after getting litchi stuck in throat in Jamalpur
A child named Yasin Mia (10) died after getting litchi stuck in throat in Sarishabari, Jamalpur. The incident took place on Monday (May 11) evening in Hatbari area of Doyel Union of the upazila. The child Yasin is the son of Shahin Mia, a grocery shopkeeper in the village.
Family members said that the child’s father Shahin Mia bought litchi from the local market and brought it home. While eating litchi, the litchi inadvertently got stuck in Yasin’s throat. When the family members quickly took him to the Upazila Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared him dead. Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Debashis Rajbangshi said that the child’s family brought him to the hospital around 7 pm, but the child died before that.
