Tamil Nadu residents to get up to 200 units of free electricity: Thalapathy Vijay

Chief Minister Thalapathy Vijay has said that the residents of Tamil Nadu in India will get up to 200 units of free electricity. In his first official order after taking oath as Chief Minister on Sunday (May 10), he announced up to 200 units of free electricity, a special task force against drugs and a special force and helpline for women’s safety. NDTV reported this news.
Thalapathy took oath at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai at 10 am local time today. Governor Rajendra Biswanath Arlekar administered the oath to the new Chief Minister. He delivered the oath in Tamil. At that time, the entire stadium erupted in applause and cheers. Chief Minister Vijay said, the son of an assistant director has become the Chief Minister today. I know poverty and hunger, I do not come from a royal family. I have endured a lot, many have insulted me. I am like your son, brother, younger brother. You have given me a place in your heart, you have accepted me.
He also said that his government will not make false promises. He also said that his government will give top priority to basic issues like education, health and drinking water. Vijay alleged that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has emptied the state treasury and we have taken on the responsibility of carrying the burden of a debt of Rs 10 lakh crore (probable estimate till March 2027). We will not take a single penny from the people’s money and will not let anyone loot the state.
At the same time, Vijay thanked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Praveen Chakraborty, Left leader MA Babli and allies and promised to bring in a new era of genuine, secular and social justice. Rahul Gandhi was also seen at the swearing-in ceremony. He had supported Vijay during the election campaign as well. It is worth noting that although the Tamil Nadu Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, it needed 118 seats to form the government in the 234-member Assembly. As a result, there was uncertainty about government formation for about a week. Later, the TVK formed a coalition government in 120 seats with the support of various political parties, including the Congress.
