Five people including wife and children killed in Gazipur

Five people including the wife and three children of a tenant of an expatriate’s house in Kapasia, Gazipur were murdered with their throats slit. The suspected murderer, Forkan Mia, is absconding. This Saturday (May 9) morning, the police recovered the bodies from the house of expatriate Monir Hossain in Rautkona village of the upazila. They were killed on Friday (May 8) night.
The deceased include Sharmin (30), the wife of suspected private car driver and absconding husband Forkan Mia, their eldest daughter Meem (15), daughter Maria (8), daughter Fariha (2) and Sharmin’s younger brother Rasul Mia (22). Eyewitnesses said that the scene was very gruesome. Three children’s throats were slit side by side on the floor of the house. The body of Sharmin’s brother Rasul was lying on the bed. On the other hand, Sharmin’s lifeless body was seen lying next to the window with her hands and face tied.
According to police and local sources, Farkan Mia lived with his family in the house of expatriate Monir Hossain. Last night, everyone in the family was seen as normal. However, this morning, locals suddenly saw the bodies of five people with their throats slit and informed the police.
Neighbors said that there were frequent family disputes between Farkan and his wife. Due to that dispute, he may have killed his wife, three children and brother-in-law and fled. Kapasia Police Station OC Shahinur Alam said that Farkan Mia rented the house about a year ago. Initial investigation revealed that Farkan Mia himself committed the murder and fled due to a family dispute.
Gazipur District Police Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Ashfaq Uzyaman said that the process of sending the bodies to the Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy is underway. Preparations are underway to file a case in this incident and multiple police teams have already started operations to arrest the accused Farkan Mia.
