Mother killed for not getting drug money, son arrested
Rajan (22) stabbed his mother to death in Baraigram, Natore for not getting drug money. He died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital around 10 pm on Sunday (May 3) while undergoing treatment. Earlier, this incident took place in Baraigram Paschimpara Mohalla of the upazila on Saturday afternoon. The deceased Sajeda Begum (55) is the wife of Abdul Matin of that Mohalla. Meanwhile, the police arrested the accused son Rajan from his in-laws’ house on Saturday night.
Locals said that the drug addict son Rajan lived with his wife in his in-laws’ house in Bagdab village of the upazila. Besides, Sajeda Begum lived alone at home as Abdul Matin had remarried. Rajan would sometimes come to his mother and force her to take money for drugs. On Saturday afternoon, he came to his mother and demanded 500 taka. But when she did not agree, Rajan took out a knife from his pocket and stabbed his mother in the stomach multiple times. As a result, her intestines came out. Hearing screams, neighbors came forward and rescued Sajeda Begum and admitted her first to the Baraigram Upazila Health Complex and later to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. She died there on Sunday night while undergoing treatment. Abdus Salam, officer-in-charge of Baraigram Police Station, said that the accused Rajan was arrested soon after the incident. A murder case has been filed with the police station in this regard.
