Jamaat MP’s car attacked and vandalized
Jamaat MP Masum Mustafa’s car was attacked and vandalized in Purbadhala Upazila of Netrokona. The incident took place on Friday evening (April 24) at the Atkapara petrol pump area on Birishiri Road in the upazila. Local sources said that when he went to the petrol pump to fill up with fuel, a group of people suddenly attacked his car. The car was damaged. Eyewitnesses also claimed that he was detained for some time.
Upazila Jamaat leaders have alleged that some BNP leaders and workers carried out the attack suddenly. They first vandalized the car and then tried to attack the MP. After this incident, tension spread in the area and a kind of suppressed tension was created.
MP Masum Mustafa said on his mobile phone, “Suddenly some people attacked my car and vandalized it. Later they surrounded me.” He said that immediate action was taken after informing the local administration about the matter. Upon receiving the information, Purbadhola Upazila Nirbahi Officer (Acting) Tasneen Jahan and Police Station Officer-in-Charge Didarul Islam went to the spot. Later, they brought the situation under control and rescued the MP. Police said that an investigation into the incident is underway and efforts are being made to identify those involved. However, it is not yet confirmed whether any case has been filed in the incident. After the incident, there is anxiety and worry in the entire upazila. The local administration is alert to keep the situation normal.
