Israeli strikes kill 12 more Palestinians in Gaza

At least 12 Palestinians have been killed in a series of attacks by Israeli forces in the besieged Gaza Strip, ignoring a so-called ceasefire, Al Jazeera reported on Friday (April 24), citing local medical sources. The report said that at least eight people, including three pedestrians, were killed in an attack on a police vehicle in Khan Younis yesterday.
Two police officers were killed in a separate attack in Gaza City. In addition, two more were killed in a bomb attack on a house in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza. The Gaza Interior Ministry yesterday called on the international community to intervene and stop the Israeli occupation’s attacks on local police forces working to restore security in civilian areas.
The ministry said the attack in Khan Younis occurred when security forces intervened to stop a clash. The statement added, “The silence of international organizations regarding the attacks targeting civilian police officers is in fact a form of indirect cooperation with the Israeli occupation forces, which encourages them to commit more crimes.”
They also stressed, “The Gaza police force provides services in various areas of the daily life of the people. There is no justification for targeting or killing them.” The ministry claimed that Israel is systematically killing Gaza police officers while at the same time colluding with criminal gangs in the occupied territory.
During the Israeli aggression on Gaza, which began in October 2023, police officers who are regularly responsible for securing aid convoys have been attacked. As a result, looting of aid supplies has increased and the food crisis in the region has become more acute.
