Three sentenced to death for gang-raping a housewife in Jamalpur

A court in Jamalpur has sentenced three people to death for gang-raping a housewife. In addition, three people have been sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of two lakh taka each. Judge Muhammad Abdur Rahim of the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal-1 in Jamalpur gave this order on Thursday (April 23) afternoon. The convicted accused are Bulbul Ahmed, Kalam Maku and Ruku of Jamalpur Municipality.
In this regard, state lawyer Fazlul Haque said that in March 2023, Bulbul Ahmed, Kalam Maku and Ruku abducted and gang-raped a housewife from in front of the Shah Jamal Mazar in Jamalpur Municipality. Later, the housewife’s husband filed a case with Jamalpur Police Station. Two years later, after hearing the testimony of 10 witnesses, the court sentenced three of them to death, followed by life imprisonment, and fined them two hundred thousand taka each.
